There are more than 700 documented springs in Florida. There are almost surely more, and the true number is probably upwards of 1,000 springs, or more.
Florida’s unique karst geology is what created the Warm Mineral Springs sinkhole, and it is what allows the sinkhole to be filled with warm, mineral-rich water.
Florida’s karst geology makes our state exceptionally vulnerable to water pollution and a variety of other issues which threaten our water quality and the safety of our aquifer.
We should support the mission of organizations who serve and protect our state’s priceless natural resources, including our springs, rivers, oceans, coastlines, wetlands, forests and every other aspect of our beautiful and irreplaceable natural environment.
